MIDAS BATHROOM
Metallic has been a key trend and an eye-catching look for some
time now, featuring heavily on both the fashion catwalks and in
home design.
The trend has now filtered down into more practical areas of the
home such as the bathroom.
The key is to balance metallic tones with neutral colours such as
white with gold or grey with silver so that the scheme doesn't
appear too heavy or flamboyant. I would recommend using patterned
or textured metallic surfaces as the focal point of the room,
combined with minimalist white sanitaryware to create a design that
is sophisticated, yet understated.
There are some really interesting tiles available on the market at
the moment including intricate mosaics, raised textures, unusual
materials and on-trend botanical designs all of which work well for
the metallic trend.
Fixtures and fittings should be minimalist in shape in a gold,
bronze or silver finish to complement the metallic tones of the
surfaces. Lighting can also be used cleverly to reflect the light
for a shimmering effect, however it should not be too stark so that
the room appears warm rather than bright and brash.
